FAQ

EDDM

What is Every Door Direct Mail™ (EDDM)?

EDDM is a U.S. Postal Service Program developed to help businesses get their promotions or advertisements into the hands of a targeted audience, meanwhile reducing the cost of preparing and delivering your mail. It's the perfect solution for businesses large and small, allowing you to target homes in your area or across the country.

No mailing list or postage permit is required, saving you time and money. And for as low as $0.202 per piece, you'll save a bundle over first class rates!

Please note: EDDM must meet "commercial flat" specifications. Our system’s built in EDDM tool makes these specifications easy to adhere to.

What is EDDM Full Service?

Our EDDM Full Service solution takes all the guess work out of the EDDM process. Use our easy to use online tool to choose a product, upload artwork, and choose your EDDM routes. Then we take care of the printing, bundling, EDDM processing and delivery to USPS.

What is the difference between EDDM Print Only and EDDM Full Service?

With the EDDM Print Only option, all the sizes and options you see are approved for EDDM processing. We print and ship to you just like a normal postcard. Be aware that you still have to design and place an indicia and addressing in the proper locations according to USPS EDDM Standards.

With EDDM Full Service, we take care of everything for you. Just choose a product, upload artwork, and choose your EDDM routes. Then we take care of the printing, bundling, EDDM processing and delivery to USPS.

How do I choose where to mail my EDDM order?

You can mail to any home or business on the routes you select using EDDM mapping tool. Simply choose a center point by providing a street address, zip code or city and the system will show you the available routes in that area. You can even choose only residential addresses by selecting the "Residential Only" check box.

On the Route Selection page, how can I adjust the number of homes and/or businesses I've selected?

Once you have entered a zip code or an address of the area you are interested in, then you will be able to select the different routes on the map for that area. You can click on the routes on the map or click on the list view to get a list of the routes in the area. You can select to show residential only or show all by clicking the check mark in the summary window. You can deselect a route by clicking on it again.

Will I be able to see physical samples of the printed job?

When available, we will automatically ship 5-10 samples to your default ship to address when the job is completed. The rest of the pieces will be delivered to the post office to be distributed to the routes you selected by USPS.

What are the minimum required for presort mailing (bulk mail)?

Presorted Standard - minimum 250 pieces

Presorted First Class - minimum 500 pieces

What is included in mailing services?

• Data process of one mailing list ($25 for each additional list)
• C.A.S.S. Certification (Coding Accuracy Support System)
• N.C.O.A (National Change of Address)
• De-dupe list
• Pre-sorting

How much is the pre sort mailing service charge?

The mailing service charge is based on the quantity of your mailing order.

Is postage included in the mailing service cost?

No, postage is a separate charge.

What happens to remaining prints that are not mailed?

You have the option to ship the remainders to your default address, drop ship the remainders to an address of your choosing, or have EZ PRINT recycle them for you. You must notify us at the time of the order or they will automatically be recycled.

Can we use our own permit and have you mail them?

No, mailing service is only offered using our permit.

What types of files are acceptable for mailing lists?

We accept .xls (Excel [recommended]) or .csv (Comma delimited)

FILE PREPARATION

What type of files do you accept?

We recommend saving as a .PDF. You may also send the file in the following types: jpg, jpeg, tif, tiff, eps, and png.

What color mode should my files be?

You should always start and finish your designs in CMYK color mode. If you send us an RGB file, there is a chance that a color shift may occur and you may not be satisfied with your job.

What resolution should my files be in?

300 dpi is the minimum resolution required for print. Low resolution files will be placed on hold until we receive new files, slowing your turn-around.

How should I set up my bleed?

Bleed must extend past the cut-line and will be trimmed from the product during the final cutting phase. When the image is required to extend all the way to the edge, bleed is needed to preserve the finished look and the quality of the final product.

Please keep all text at least 0.125" inside the cut-line. We recommend using our templates at all times.

Should I upload a proof or sample file?

When sending artwork, do not send extra files, like proofs or samples, because they might get printed. Only send the files you need printed.

Can I upload two sided jobs as one file?

We are now specifically set up to process one side at a time, and this requires that each side of a job must be on a separate file. Not separating files will cause delays and you might have to send the files again. Please send a FRONT and BACK as separate files.

GENERAL

What is AQ Coating?

AQ Coating is short for "Aqueous Coating." This is a term for a post-production process where a clear coating, in a water base and applied like ink by a printing press, is applied to the entire surface and used to protect and enhance the printing underneath. It provides a light luster to the printed product, speeds up dry times, minimizes finger prints, and adds more scuff protection. Since aqueous coating makes it problematic for postage and inkjet printing to be applied, it is not applied to mailing sides of postcards.

What is UV Coating?

UV Coating is short for "Ultra-violet Coating." This is a term for a post-production process where a clear coating, a liquid applied to a printed sheet, is bonded and cured with ultraviolet light. This form of coating is thicker than normal varnishes and provides an attractive, high gloss appearance to the printing.

What is your turnaround time?

We offer different turnaround options for your project. Some products have shorter or longer turnarounds than others. Our turnaround time is measured in business days and starts upon approval of your proof and ends the day we ship your project. Your order may ship sooner than the turnaround time you select. However, due to the complex nature of printing, turnaround time is an estimate and while we make every endeavor to complete your project on time, we cannot guarantee the completion date.
